COLOMBIA - FREE Teacher Onboarding Program - UPDATE!

Teachers!
Great news! While you are job hunting in Colombia or waiting for your work visa process to be finalized, ........SAVE ON OVERHEAD, gain classroom management experience, practice your Spanish, pick up an in-country reference, and.... Enjoy the beautiful Coffee Region!  Our team of (6) Volunteer Teachers has, on average, one spot available every month.  Your participation could last up to three months!

During your stay, our TeachColombia team will arrange job interviews that will help you secure a paid position for a one-year contract in Colombia.
Our account managers ([email protected]) will help you secure job interviews based on your profile and preferences.

One exciting aspect of our project is introducing a worldschooling component to include English-speaking foreigners in our school. This is super interesting!  Additionally, we have a local partnership with a Montessori school, which you may also have the opportunity to experience.  I added a video explaining our integration of international families into our school here https://colegiomenfis.org/world-schooling

Top 10 reasons why you should consider participating:
  • To provide our rural students the fantastic opportunity to learn from you, a native English teacher, that they otherwise would not have.
  • To increase your attractiveness as a teacher candidate by being in Colombia while interviewing.
  • To nearly eliminate overhead costs while landing in Colombia to job hunt for up to 89 days.
  • To gain an in-country job reference from our school principal.
  • To gain cross-cultural classroom management experience in Colombia.
  • To grow and practice your Spanish language skills, you can add formal Spanish classes for yourself.
  • To receive teacher mentorship from our Colombian teachers and the English department coordinator.
  • To enjoy experiencing our beautiful coffee region, as you are likely to end up working in another part of the country.
  • To share a fun & challenging personal growth experience alongside our international volunteer team.
  • To grow your confidence and competence as a global educator.

Typically, Student Teaching and teacher Onboarding cost $45 per day!  However, we have six spots available for BARTER for you to interview for our ColegioMenfis.org. So, doing it this way would cost you nothing, and most of your housing and food expenses could be covered.

What you can expect from Minga House Foundation:
You will be provided with housing for up to 89 days and breakfast and lunch at the school restaurant on school days. Breakfast is served after 7:00 a.m., and then you teach two or three one-hour English classes, depending on the availability of teachers. You will break for prep work or personal time, then eat lunch at approximately 11:00 a.m.  You may additionally choose to assist our Colombian teachers in any other classes, activities, or grade levels if you believe that the experience and mentorship will benefit your teaching objectives.  You can explore our community and the coffee region for the rest of the day and on weekends. You are also welcome to participate in all our local volunteering opportunities in education, social work, animal care, community development, community gardening, club sports, and health. Additionally, you can join the excursions we arrange for volunteers, such as jeep rides, horseback riding, coffee tours, hikes, and more! Some are free to you, while others are very reasonably priced.

What Minga House Foundation would expect from you:
We expect you to give our students your best, accept the guidance and support from our school leadership team, and be an enthusiastic team member. You must also be willing to commit to the agreed-upon duration of the program. You can only do this role if we are convinced that you will enjoy it and are fully committed to doing your best for our students and their families.

During your stay, our TeachColombia team will arrange job interviews that will help you secure a paid position for a one-year contract in Colombia.  Our account managers ([email protected]) will help you secure job interviews based on your profile and preferences.
