How does the process work? How do I apply?
First, MingaTeachers is part of the Minga House Foundation, a nonprofit organization in Colombia focused on several educational endeavors. MingaTeachers does not charge teachers any fees.
You complete a profile by doing 1) an online MingaCV, 2) Intro VIdeo, and 3) Order a Foreign Credential Evaluation of your university transcripts (sabana de notas)
Upon completing your profile, the MingaTeachers TeachUSA team support staff will present your profile to school districts within 46 U.S. states. If a school district likes your profile and it matches a vacancy, then that school district will inform our support staff that they would like to interview. If you pass their interview and they feel it's a match, they make you an offer. At that point, you decide to accept that offer or continue interviewing. Easy.

When should you apply?
This is an online year-round process, and many teachers continue updating their profile until they are hired. The process could bring you a teaching contract offer in your first year or you could take several itnerviews and eventually get a job contract in yoru second or third year. This is a market in which you are completing. Note that every time you interview, you get better. So your focus should be to complete your profile as soon as possible and to accept any interview that comes your way. Your focus is to beat your competition and to find a matching offer to your preferences and abilities.
Can I ask for a specific location?
You may ask for a specific location but realize that limits your possibilities. Consider being open to all locations. If you get a job offer, you can evaluate all aspects of that offer, including location, to make a decision. Go one step at a time, but remain open-minded about location. Remember, all locations have different costs of living. Generally, if they have high salaries, it is likely because they have higher local and state taxes, and their housing may be more expensive. So we advise selecting the location based on the situation, not just the salary.
Do I have to apply for this year?
No, you do not have to apply or go the first year or any way. When should go apply or go? Go when it is the right year for you. Go when it is prudent, go when you have your house in order, when you have the finances to avoid extreme hardships, when the time is right for you.
So, when should you apply?
NOW! Always. Apply to obtain experience, apply to test yourself, apply to challenge yourself. Decide to go when you have a job offer in front of you. Then, only then decide if the situation and the timing is right for you. Make sense? Never slow down or wait until it is perfect for yout apply. Apply for the sakes of obtaining interviews.
