Minga Volunteering Program - FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is the minimum and maximum duration of the program?
Volunteers can stay for a minimum of 2 weeks and a maximum of 89 days.


2. What is the cost of the program?
The program costs $45 per day, which includes:
  • A private bedroom with a private bathroom.
  • Daily breakfast.
  • Registration with Migration Colombia.
  • An invitation letter.
  • A planning guide.
  • A pre-arrival video conference.

3. What kind of volunteer opportunities are available?
We offer opportunities in the following areas:
  • Social Work: Supporting local communities.
  • Education: Teaching English or assisting in schools.
  • Sports: Coaching youth teams.
  • Health: Contributing to local health initiatives.

4. What is included in the program fee?
The fee covers:
  • Housing (private bedroom and bathroom).
  • Daily breakfast.
  • Registration with Migration Colombia.
  • Invitation letter for your visa process.
  • Pre-arrival planning guide and video conference.
  • Orientation and ongoing support.

5. Do I need travel insurance?
Yes, all volunteers should have valid travel insurance. Additionally, you will be required to sign a Certificate of Commitments, Exemption from Liability, and Waiver of Legal Claims for Volunteering Activities as part of the pre-arrival process.


6. Do I need to speak Spanish to join?
No, it’s not mandatory, but basic Spanish is helpful. We provide language support, and volunteering offers great practice opportunities.


7. How do I apply?
Complete the online application form on our website. After submission, we’ll contact you to guide you through the process, including scheduling a pre-arrival video conference.


​8. Do I need a visa?
Most nationalities do not require a visa to enter Colombia. According to your nationality, you can stay visa-free for up to 89 days.

9. What is Chinchiná like?
Chinchiná is a peaceful town in Colombia’s Coffee Region. It offers a vibrant local culture, beautiful coffee farms, and a welcoming community.


10. What should I bring with me?
Here are some essentials:
  • Comfortable clothing for warm days and cool evenings.
  • Sturdy shoes for walking or hiking.
